Once training is started, it must be completed within 90 days.

Additional requirements for this endorsement may include the driver to be at least 21 years of age, pass a medical background test, pass a TSA background test, and be fingerprinted for any prior criminal conviction.

In general, a person who drives a school bus transporting students to/from school is required to have School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements. A person who drives an empty school bus or a school bus transporting students and/or adults to/from events that are not sponsored by the school may only have a Passenger (P) endorsement (FMCSA). State laws may vary.

Any driver currently holding a valid CDL can obtain a School Bus(S) endorsement upon successful completion of THEORY training, Behind-the-Wheel training, and an S (endorsement) skills test. This Smart Horizons curriculum track satisfies the THEORY training requirement ONLY.

A minimum score of 80 is required to pass a test or graded assignment. Successful completion of all content, test and/or written assignments, and surveys is required to earn CEUs. Course completion is reported to the Training Provider Registry.

90-day extensions are also available.
